Wood Fence Maintenance and Tips

Cedar fences, when allowed to age naturally, form a grayish patina. It is recommended to seal your fence if you do not desire this look, and it is wise to do so to extend the life of your fence. Pressure treated posts do not require any additional treatments.

To preserve your fence, you may choose to stain it. Premier Fence, Inc. also offers pre-stained options in different shades to save on work and time taken to complete. Older fences that have light moss or dirt staining can be pressure washed and re-stained.

We recommend directing sprinklers away from your fence to prevent additional wetting. This can strip sealants and can cause the wood to rot faster.

Chain Link, Ornamental Iron, and Vinyl Fence Maintenance and Tips

Chain link fences require minimal maintenance. If you notice your chain link fence developing a coat of dust or moss, simply pressure wash to make your fence look like new again.

Inspect your ornamental iron fence for flaking paint or rust spots that need to be touched up. The sooner you find these problems, the easier they can be fixed.

Vinyl fencing is popular for the fact that it requires very little upkeep. In the event that your vinyl fence develops dirt and staining, you can wash or pressure clean your fence to remove any grime and buildup.
